Awards and Grants2009-10 Marie Curie Fellowship (Transfer of Knowledge), University of Cambridge and Krakow AGH University of Science and Technology, Poland. 2006 Armourers and Brasiers’ Company Research Fellowship and Award in recognition of recent research on joining advanced materials. 2004-05 Smart Award from DTI for CAMJET (Cambridge Advanced Method for Joining Engine Turbines). Total of £60,000 was raised for one-year of work in the University of Cambridge. 2001-02 Full Research Grant from Centre Francais pour l’Accueil et les Échanges Internationaux (EGIDE), Paris, France. Awarded a full research grant for 11 months to develop a new joining method in École Polytechnique de l’Université de Nantes. 1999 Cook/Ablett Award from the Institute of Materials, Minerals and Mining, London, UK, for an outstanding published paper in the field of metals. 1998 International Henry Granjon Prize from the International Institute of Welding (IIW) for developing a novel bonding method for advanced aluminium alloys and composites. 1997 Lundgren Award from University of Cambridge in recognition of PhD research. 1995-97 Overseas Research Students Award (ORS) from the Committee of Vice-Chancellors and Principals of the Universities of the United Kingdom.
