GIFT stands for the new Graduate Institute for Ferrous Technology, at the Pohang University of Science and Technology (POSTECH). The University itself was created by POSCO, one of the largest steel manufacturers in the world. Harry Bhadeshia visited GIFT to take up an appointment to initiate one of the five initial research groups, that on the Computational Metallurgy of Steels. This was also his first ever and very memorable trip to South Korea.
