The Photoactive Materials Group led by Professor Rachel Evans has successfully achieved reaccreditation of its Gold LEAF Award, recognising the group’s continued commitment to laboratory sustainability and environmental best practice.
The reaccreditation auditor praised the group’s efforts, commenting:
“The Photoactive Materials lab is surpassing the standards of Gold LEAF and is a brilliant example to the University. The tool they’ve developed with Labsense will be incredibly useful as an open-source resource to help other labs take action. Keep up the great work and innovation in excelling in sustainability.”
The feedback highlights not only the group’s strong sustainability culture, but also the impact of its LabSense project (funded by Cambridge Zero’s Living Labs pilot) to develop an open-source tool that will help laboratories across identify opportunities to reduce their environmental footprint. The group looks forward to building on this success and sharing its approaches with the wider research community.
