Dr Jessica Gwynne has been selected as a 2019 Pilkington Prize winner. The prizes, endowed by Sir Alastair Pilkington, acknowledge excellence in teaching and are awarded to individuals who make a substantial contribution to the teaching programme of a Department, Faculty or the University as a whole. There were thirteen prizes awarded, with nominations made by each School. The prizes are awarded annually and this year were presented by Professor Graham Virgo, Senior Pro-Vice-Chancellor for Education, at an event on 25th June.

Jessica has revolutionised teaching in the department, helping to make Materials Science one of the most popular options in the Natural Sciences Tripos. She has a passion for helping students to reach their full potential, and plays an energetic role in all aspects of departmental teaching, including lecturing on a wide range of subjects, course coordination, examining, outreach, and training and motivating staff involved in teaching.
