Rolls Royce has been shortlisted for its work with the universities of Cambridge, Birmingham and Swansea in the Most Innovative Contribution to Business-University Collaboration category at this year’s Times Higher Education Awards.  The Rolls Royce UTC has been part of the Department of Materials Science & Metallurgy since 1994 and was created to support the development of the next generation of nickel-based alloys and high temperature materials.  More information on the collaboration with Rolls Royce and the work of Professor Cathie Rae, Dr Howard Stone, Dr Nick Jones and  Dr Enrique Galindo-Nava can be found on the website for the UTC.  The group also has a twitter feed @RRUTC_Cam.
