This course introduces approximately 36 Year 12 / S5 students to the way in which materials science is taught at the University of Cambridge. The students spend time attending lectures and practical sessions during their four-day residential course. There are additional sessions covering other aspects of university life. This course, formerly known as Headstart, has run annually since 2010 (except for 2013, when the Department moved to a new facility, and 2020 & 2021 due to the Covid-19 pandemic).
