The Department of Materials Science & Metallurgy offers world-leading teaching and cutting-edge research training in materials science to an undergraduate cohort of close to 400 students and a postgraduate cohort of around 150 students.

Attracting the most talented students and ensuring they have access to outstanding academic staff and state-of-the-art facilities is core to the aims and objectives of the Department in addition to providing wide-ranging transferrable skills training and well-being support.

This fund enables the Department to provide support in a range of areas, including:

  • support for research-related expenses, enabling research to be performed in new and exciting areas not possible without funding for specific materials and consumables;
  • participation in workshops and conferences where students can learn about the latest developments, share their results and engage with world-leading experts in their research fields;
  • access to cutting edge research equipment that could make a transformative difference to the research that students can undertake.

A donation of any size to this fund will help to support the Department in ensuring our students have the best possible educational and research experience.
